Can I book the park for a private party?

DCMC does not take bookings for private functions although you are welcome to use the parklands keeping in mind you must leave the park as you found it. Loud amplified music, party poppers, confetti are not endorsed.

Can I book a wedding ceremony at Darebin Parklands?

There is a base fee of $550 including GST. This fee covers a DCMC staff member holding the site on the day, bins, access to power at the Amphitheatre site and site preparation the day before (mowing, clean up etc). For vehicle access and professional marques set up please contact DCMC for more information as extra fees apply.

Can I book the BBQ’s?

No, the barbecue area cannot be booked or reserved for a function.

Where can I walk my dog off leash?

DCMC has designated a large off leash area with creek access in the north-east of the park (see map). Dogs are required to be on leash in all other areas and are prohibited in all wetlands.

Why do the upper ponds near the shared trail look so dirty?

As the Parklands used to be a quarry and then a tip, water infiltrates the rubbish underground which is collected and treated through a network of ponds and bio-filters. The ponds are part of this system.

Can I hire the Education building at Darebin Parklands?

Yes but not for parties. The hall is available for hire for community groups, meetings, workshops. Please contact DCMC for more information. Fees are $27.50 per hr with a 3 hour minimum.

Why are there traps all around the park?

DCMC in partnership with the Darebin Parklands Association is trapping the Indian Myna bird in an effort to rid this pest bird from the parklands thus allowing native birds to breed up and populate the parklands once more.

Can I film in Darebin Parklands?

Profession Production houses are charged a daily fee starting at $1100 per day inclusive of GST. Students or other private filming will need to contact DCMC for more details.
