Darebin Creek Management Committee
Location: Darebin Parklands, Separation Street Alphington.
Hours: 38 hours/week, some after hours meetings and events, full-time or part time
Classification: Band 8, $115,956 to $129,597
Manage an organisation dedicated to improving the ecological and community values of Darebin Creek, an important tributary of the Yarra River (Birrarung) in northern Melbourne.
The organisation
Darebin Creek Management Committee (DCMC) is a not-for-profit organisation whose purpose is to maintain, promote, protect and conserve the health of the Darebin Creeklands. DCMC is governed by a Board composed of representatives from the four Councils that border the creek as well as Latrobe University and community groups: Friends of Darebin Creek and Friends of Darebin Parklands.
Executive Director role
Responsibilities include:
- Ensure delivery of operational plans to achieve longer-term strategic goals,
- Responsible management of all resources and assets,
- Lead, manage and inspire a small team of dedicated professional staff and volunteers,
- Engage constructively and work collaboratively with key stakeholders including member organisations, government agencies, funding bodies and community groups,
- Support the work of the Board contributing to their effective operation and discharge of their governance responsibilities,
- Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and organisation policies,
- Be the public face of the organisation and represent the interests of Darebin Creek and its communities.
The person
The ideal candidate will have a commitment to and understanding of nature conservation, urban waterway health and the importance of the natural world to human wellbeing. They will appreciate the opportunity to take custodianship of a valued community-focussed organisation. They will have experience in leading and inspiring a team of dedicated staff and volunteers. They will have the knowledge and experience to contribute directly to various aspects of DCMC operations. The person should have experience in management in the not-for-profit sector, and a good working knowledge of the operation of local government.
